The Reader Ministry continues the mission of preaching the Word of God by reverently proclaiming Sacred Scripture to the assembly during the liturgy of the word at Mass. God speaks to his people through the scriptures and the homily, so it is vital that Readers prepare, understand, and proclaim the readings to the best of their ability. To be an effective Reader, adequate preparation is necessary, and includes study, prayer, and practice. Training is provided.
